McAra Design + Build

What happens at a walkthrough

Ninety minutes. No pitch. You keep the scope either way.

What we do

  • Walk the whole house, not just the room.
  • Look at what you want done and at what's behind it.
  • Take photos and moisture readings.
  • Ask what you actually use the space for.

What you get

  • A written scope.
  • Itemized allowances.
  • A fixed price.
  • A completion date.

It's yours whether you hire us or not.

What we won't do

  • Quote on the spot.
  • Give you a discount that expires.
  • Tell you a problem is urgent when it isn't.

Twenty years of not having a stake in the answer is a hard habit to break.

What we'll tell you that you might not want to hear

Sometimes the project you're planning isn't the best use of the money. We'll say so.

It costs us the job and it's the reason people call back.

What to have ready

  • A rough idea of what you want to change, even if it isn't final.
  • Access to the areas involved, including the basement and any mechanical rooms.
  • Any prior renovation or inspection paperwork you have on the house.
  • A rough budget range, if you have one — it isn't required.

The written scope, itemized allowances, fixed price and completion date follow within three business days of the walkthrough.
